Media Watch

If you're logged in, you can add a resource to this page on the 'add entry' button - please do share books, websites, tv programmes, films, journal articles - in fact, anything that you have found useful. Here are some guidelines to help you.

·         You should include an overview of the book's (or programme, film, article) main themes and purpose. The description should be brief but provide enough detail for readers to get a general sense of the book. It is important to identify the target audience, and can be helpful to describe individual chapters or sections of the book.

 ·         A critique of the book is always helpful. Particular emphasis should be placed upon the book’s relevance to practice teaching and learning, related research, and/or relevant theory. It is important to highlight the positive aspects of the book as well as any limitations or omissions. The review should assess and critically analyse the central ideas.

·         Reviews on here should be between 250 - 500 words in length.

·         Include the following information at the end of the review:  reviewer’s name, degree/credential initials, professional title, work affiliation, city and country, and email address. That all helps the reader to understand your review in context.

Anything added needs to be approved before it goes live - we'll do that!

The Book Trust says... "Other readers will always be interested in your opinion of the books you've read. Whether you've loved the book or not, if you give your honest and detailed thoughts then people will find new books that are right for them. If you're stuck on what to say in a review, it can help to imagine you're talking to someone who's asking you whether they should read the book."
